Any Holiday Party Food Ideas from My Chicago Friends?

(No Charming Photo Because Blogger Stinks!)

Does anyone have suggestions for a place from which to pick up or order delicious bulk** appetizers? We're having a house full for a holiday party in a few weeks and I just found out that I'll be travelling for work the week leading up to it. (OF COURSE I would be, as I travel for work once every 5 years!)

I have an e-mail out to Appetizers and Inc. to see if they're open to the public.

  • Note: I don't have a Costco membership.

Just saw last night that Mindy Segal at Hot Chocolate is currently offering catering for holiday parties. Pricing is a la carte and is comparable to other gourmet catering places - not cheap but not terrible either. Menu is posted at the restaurant (not online). http://www.hotchocolatechicago.com/

are you looking for ready-made stuff? if not, try aldi. i couldn't believe how much it had changed since i was a kid and HATED going there... they had bags of frozen meatballs for $1.50 - i grabbed a few, dumped them in a crockpot with a jar of bbq sauce, and served them up with fancy toothpicks. they also had bags of apples for $1.99 which worked perfectly for dipping into caramel fondue. maybe not the fanciest stuff in the world, but it's cheap and that always makes me happy :)... and if you're creative i'm sure you could make everything look like a million bucks!

I read somewhere that you can just use a Costco gift card and never need a membership, just keep refilling the gift card. you just need someone with a membership to buy the gift card for you.

I think a lot of the bars & restaurants offer some catering options now. Maybe just pick something you like in your 'hood and check to see if they have anything you're looking for. Good luck! Regardless, the time saved by not making everything yourself is completely worth it! :)

I actually work for Phil Stefani Signature Events - we cater Weddings, of course ;), but we also have a PS To Go menu- check out this link - I think It'd be perfect for your Holiday Party.

I think there are lot many places for going for holidays but the place with good ambience and food are very rare...Ya bars and pubs can also be a better option.
Thanks,
