Bathroom Baskets

Do I HAVE to provide bathroom baskets? I'm getting tired of spending money. And organizing. And making lists. And trips to Target are rare when you live in a neighborhood in which parking spaces are a hot commodity.

What if I just put some mints out? Is that rude? Or could I use travel sizes of stuff like hairspray, mouthwash, etc.? I can run that errand at CVS at lunch.

I think that I am getting bitter that my minimalist wedding is out of control. I'm cool with renting furniture and every piece of cookware that the kitchen will use, but I don't think that I have another $200 trip to Target for toiletries in me. (Nor does my bank account. And EVERY trip to Target becomes a $200 trip. Don't deny it.) Does that make me a bad hostess?

Your Crass Pal,

Tina

P.S. I've decided that minimalism is for either very lazy people pretending to be chic by not having posessions or decor OR for control freaks for have to edit everything. It takes a lot of energy to keep things small.

no, no,, and no! No one missed them at my wedding and they usually go mostly unused. Stop the madness!

Personally i love travel-sized things. and CVS. so don't worry about Target - does ANYONE go there and spend less than $100 per trip? There's just something about that place... Keep it cheap and simple - band aids (for blisters) mini sewing kit, travel size pack of tampons/pads, hair spray, clear nail polish (does anyone actually use that anymore for runs in nylons? might be as easy to forget that too) mints and i think you're golden. that oughta run you about $10. And I'm with you on Minimalism. Nice concept but I can only admire it from afar... GOOD LUCK!!!

I don't think you have to have them. I do think that somethings (like tampons) are handy since CVS is a hike from ANL.

And I would use travel size anyways... you could get a few basic things from CVS over lunch for sure. Or order from drugstore.com

Definitely not necessary. I got married at ANL about a month ago. I took a spare small vase and placed mints in it with a pretty little sign. No one missed the toiletries...and they told me how thoughtful the mints were. Save yourself the money and headache.

I was just married in August in Chicago and although these are a nice thought so not a necessity! I had baskets and the only items that were the spray deodarant (b/c it was so humid that day, shout wipes, and mints. Nothing else was touched - don't waste the money. If you decide you want to have them get only travel sizes or you will have a lot leftover!

I'm planning on only using travel sizes. They will never use full size, so save yourself some money!

Bathroom baskets? Hardly....it's a nice gesture but not entirely necessary. If you aren't into it don't do it....

No one used the bathroom baskets at our wedding. I would say skip it.

Thanks for relieving my worries as well. I am going in right now and crossing this silly little necessary thing off of my list.

Maybe some mints will stay on the list though. But seriously, my venue is super super nice. And my reception is short. And it saves money. Let's both not do it.

Yeah, I've been kind of debating these as well... I'm with you on the mints, but I don't think the rest of the stuff is necessary. And travel sizes would be fine.
