Brilliant, C&B! Just Brilliant!

I'm rounding out Year 13 of Apartment Living (gasp!) and I wish that Crate & Barrel would have invented this about 12.5 years ago. The "kid's table" never looked so cool - and, at $299, has never been so stylishly affordable. It's like Forever 21 for grown-up furniture. I would have gotten a ton of mileage out of this back in the day.

Moving Announcements - Etsy

I'm still dragging a*s on our moving announcements. None of my own designs are blowing my hair back and none of the pro ones are screaming "Send Me!" Here's what I found on Etsy! Etsy! Etsy! (Incidentally, two of these are similar to ideas floating in my uninspired little mind.)

Broke-Ass Bride$hare

As you've undoubtedly heard by now, the Broke-Ass Bride, who you should all look up to because she took this photograph on her wedding day and you didn't...

...excitedly announced the official launch of her Bride$hare program. The goal, don't pull a Tina and buy 16 orange kerosene lanterns-turned-vases or 28 whirly candleholders:

Or 10 custom pillows:

Instead, find someone else whose got mad style and split the cost. Or help a sister out and sell her your stuff for cheap so you can get it out of your storage space. Either way, you can save your wallet and the Earth. As BABs says, "Green is the New White!" Best of Luck to the Broke-Ass and her new venture!

Lights

As you may have guessed during my wedding planning, I tend to gravitate towards round things. For example, on the West Elm site, I immediately clicked on these.

But I am trying to get myself to think outside of the orb. I think that I've officially added this to my New House Wish List:

I think that it will look great sitting on top of something like this bar, which we'd use as an entry table/catch all instead of an actual bar:

Moving Announcements

I am thinking of..gasp...buying our moving announcements**. I am very busy and also trying to break the incredibly bad habits that wedding planning enabled me to develop - mainly, staying up all night blogging and playing with paper. Not to mention that I will be sending Moving Announcement/Christmas cards at the rate I work.

So far, these are the ones in the running - in no particular order. Any votes?

I do like the one above very much, but the baby carriage is misleading.
I don't feel like dealing with people reading into it.

**I have a spectacular idea for homemade cards. The materials would cost next to nothing, but the labor and postage would be through the roof!

Hell Has Frozen Over.

My cell phone rang the other day and someone from Paper Source was on the other end. Apparently, there was an error when they rang my sale the night before and my "Girls Night Out" discount was not applied. Wait a minute?

Paper Source...

is...

giving me...

money...

BACK?

Unrequested?

Hell Yeah!

Andy thinks that it's because I am one of their top 10 customers. I think that he's exaggerating a bit. Just because I am Facebook friends with employees and have Paper Source papers taped to the bedroom walls to consider as paint colors does not infer that I have a problem and, therefore, am one of their top 10 customers!

This kind of makes up for this.

P.S.

I published the last post using a lame app on my iPhone. I wasn't blogging from work! (Just in case anyone with the power to fire me saw that.)

Aaaaaaaaah!

We moved into our new place two weeks ago and are still without Internet access. I have some blog posts burning a hole in my mind and no means by which to share them. I hope other bloggers don't get to them first, as usual. I am always So-Two-Weeks-Ago.

Hs and Ks,

Tina

P.S. Our new place kicks butt! It. Has. An. In-Unit. Laundry. ROOM! Yes, an actual room - not a crappy stackable set in a closet - a whole, 62-inch wide ROOM!

Honymoon, 2nd Act

Twenty-four hours after the wedding, we’re heading to Bangkok. We will spend two days in Thailand’s capitol city before we fly over to Siam Reap, Cambodia. Siam Reap is known for their temple, "Angkor Wat." I’ve always wanted to visit this stunning temple. We will have a private tour with an English-speaking guide and a driver, so I hope we’re really able to see the highlights. After three days in Cambodia, we will head to Kuala Lumpur, the capitol of Malaysia. I cannot wait to see the Batu Caves and the Petronas Towers. Before our city tour ends, we will stop in Singapore. I’m so excited to see this city again.

After Singapore, we will head to the beach on the island of Koh Samui. Unfortunately, we wanted to go on our honeymoon right after the wedding, which limited our options for beach destinations, as September is monsoon time in Asia. Since we had visited Koh Samui during our 2006 vacation, I did not want to include it in our itinerary. But; our hotel choice totally changed my mind. We’re going to spend three nights at the Six Senses Hideaway Samui! I’ve always promised myself that I’d stay at a Six Senses hotel soon. So, what better occasion than on our honeymoon?
From Koh Samui, we will take a 30-minute speedboat ride to Koh Phangan, another beautiful island in the Gulf of Thailand. There we will stay at the brand new Hotel "Rasananda."
I cannot wait to spend 3 weeks in Asia with my husband! (oh wow, this sounds strange!)

Honeymoon

We (okay, let’s be honest, I) booked our honeymoon a few weeks ago! So, where are we going? South Asia! We have been to Bali and Thailand before, and, while I don’t like to visit the same place twice, I’m willing to make an exception for Singapore ;-) I love, love, love Singapore. I think it’s an amazing city and I’ve always wanted to spend more time there. We tossed around many ideas, but none of them seemed to be “the one.” Vacationing in Thailand back in 2006 was so freaking beautiful and relaxing that we decided to go for it.

Photos by me

We have about three weeks for our honeymoon. Since three weeks on a beach was definitely not an option, we came up with the idea of city-hopping and a spending few relaxing days at the beach. Stay tuned for the details…
