Girly Overload

Remember a while back when I said that I wasn't going to give 1154 Lill Purses to my bridesmaids? Well, my sister didn't like that post very much. She essentially came right out and told me that she was getting an 1154 Lill purse and that I was giving it to her. Then my other bridesmaid, LP, mentioned a few weeks back that she wanted to make a new purse. Well, I invited them to join me last Thursday at the "From One Shoulder to Another" event. It was one of my most fun moments since being engaged. My sister, LP, our friend VP, and I enjoyed a great evening of creativity and girliness. It was so fun!

Here's a photo of my sister and I showing off our fabric selections. I am sticking my gut out because I want people to *think* that I'm fat. I hate when I am mistaken as a size 2.

DJ on the Run

My good friend (and bridesmaid) volunteers for Girls on the Run, an after-school program that prepares school-age girls to run a 5K while teaching them important lessons on self-esteem, respecting themselves and others, etc.

The Girls On The Run Junior Board is hosting a Family Picnic Event to celebrate the girls completion of the WonderGirl 5k and Spring Training Program.

The board is looking for donations, food donations, volunteers, and DJs who are interested in donating their services or are willing to work for a reduced rate. This is a great opportunity to help out the girls get some publicity for your company, including:

• Flyers in race goody bag on June 7. (Information needed by 3rd week of May)
  
• A mention on the Girls on the Run web site and Coaches Corner.
  
• Your company name on event signs to be displayed in the neighborhoods of participating schools. Advertisements Chicago Parent Magazine and Evanston Roundtable Newspaper.

I wish that I would have seen this sooner so that I would have posted it last week! Brides Against Breast Cancer is a not-for-profit organization that funds breast cancer research. They're having a gown sale.

• Date: Friday and Saturday
• Time: 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
• Place: The Wydham Chicago Hotel, 633 N. St. Clair Street

According to their web site, many of the dresses are BRAND NEW FROM THE DESIGNERS! And they have sizes from 4-24 (you know, in case you're a "bigger girl too"). ;0

If you're not in the market to buy or sell a dress, the Brides Against Breast Cancer web site has many ideas for ways that you can help:

• Volunteer at an event.

• Give Brides Against Breast Cancer Donation in lieu of favors.

Girl Power

My good friend (and lady in waiting) volunteers for Girls on the Run, an after-school program that prepares school-age girls to run a 5K while teaching them important lessons on self-esteem, respecting themselves and others, etc. They've posted a video on You Tube. It's currently the 71st most-watched non-profit video. They want to make it number 1.

Anyone who watches the Chicago Marathon will recognize GOTR chicks as the "Team Tiara" women. They run in tiaras, bling, and sometimes feathers!
